What Is Paneer?
Paneer is a fresh, non-melting Indian cheese made by curdling milk with an acid like lemon juice or vinegar. Soft yet firm, it holds its shape beautifully when cooked, making it a favorite protein source for vegetarians. Unlike many cheeses, paneer is not aged, salted, or rennet-based, which is why it has a mild flavor and a tender bite that absorbs spices beautifully.
Paneer is also incredibly versatile, you can grill it, sautรฉ it, toss it into curries, stuff it into breads and snacks, or crumble it over salads and rice dishes. Because it doesn't melt, paneer stays delightfully firm while soaking in all the flavors around it.
Paneer is also rich in protein and calcium, making it a staple in many vegetarian Indian meals.
Making paneer at home quickly requires only 2 basic ingredients - milk and lemon juice or vinegar. Learn How To Make Paneer at home with this step-by-step guide.
