Simple, stress-free holiday treat that is ready in under 10 minutes. Who doesn't like easy recipes? With all the holiday rush and tons of things to care off before the holidays, I have literally no patience to stand in the kitchen and make elaborate treats.
This was back in December, 2002 when I first visited Disney world. I still remember how beautifully the whole town was decorated for the holidays. I tried so many new dishes and treats, and this one chocolate peppermint bark was one such treat I couldn't resist eating. I bought some with me when we came back from our trip.
Very soon all the chocolate peppermint bark disappeared. It was not just me who devoured this peppermint bark, but more my 5 year old son who loves white chocolate. I decided I have to try this recipe, and I am glad I did.
This chocolate peppermint bark is so easy, even my teen daughter can now make this without any fuss. Easily customizable this chocolate peppermint bark is a must try.

About Chocolate Peppermint Bark
Chocolate peppermint bark can be made with just the milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate. You can also make a two-layer chocolate bark, by using either of the chocolate combinations for more decadent flavor.
I make chocolate peppermint bark using either just one chocolate or a combination of chocolates. Here are some of my family favorites:

Peppermint Candy Or Soft Peppermints
You can use broken candy canes or soft peppermints for this recipe. I prefer the soft peppermints they just kind of melt in your mouth. But if you like a bite go for peppermint candy, I think it adds a nice texture to the chocolate bark.
What Flavors To Use For Chocolate Bark?
The one flavor I like to use is peppermint extract. Add 1-2 teaspoon of peppermint extract to the melted chocolate for the additional layer of peppermint flavoring. However, flavoring is totally optional.
Variations To Chocolate Peppermint Bark
Peppermint is one of the favorites topping when it comes to chocolate bark. However, you can use toppings of your choice. This is the best time to clear up whatever is in your pantry. Some of the toppings we like are:
- Marshmallows
- M&Ms
- Pretzels
- Peanut Butter cups
- Caramel Bites
- Peanuts
- Oreo's
- Sprinkles
How To Make Chocolate Peppermint Bark
One of the easiest recipe to make, cost effective and heavenly in taste. Pick your favorite chocolate, using a double boiler, melt the chocolate. Once chocolate is completed melted, pour this melted chocolate onto a cookie sheet, spread the chocolate with a spatula. Add crushed peppermint candy and gently press it using back of the spoon.
Let the chocolate firm up completely. Once firm, break the bark into desired pieces and store it in an air-tight container in a refrigerator.
Bark can be made upto 7 days ahead. Store it in an air-tight container refrigerated. You can also package these chocolate peppermint bark in a treat bags and tie with a ribbon. Keep the packages in an air-tight container refrigerated until gifting.
How To Make Chocolate Bark Using Instant Pot
Absolutely, love making these chocolate peppermint bark in Instant Pot. You could use the stove top for making the same. The double boiler method works just fine in either case.
Equipment Required:
- Instant Pot
- Glass or steel bowl that sits well on top of your Instant Pot liner
- Whisk or spatula
- Cookie sheet
- Parchment paper
Directions:
Line a cookie sheet with a parchment paper.
Add the peppermint into a Ziploc bag. Using a rolling pin, crush the mints to a course texture. Do not make it into a powder foam, just into small pieces. Keep all the crushed candy aside.
Next, add 2 cups of water in the inner pot of Instant Pot. Now place a bowl on top of the Instant Pot.
Turn ON Instant Pot on sauté mode (more). Add the chocolate chips to a bowl. Whisk until all the chocolate has melted, it will take around 4-5 minutes.
Turn off Instant Pot. Stir in peppermint extract and half the crushed candy.
Pour this melted chocolate mixture onto a parchment paper, and spread it in an even layer using a spatula.
Sprinkle all the remaining crushed mints evenly onto the top of the layered chocolate, using a spatula, gently press down the mints so that it sticks to the chocolate.
Set the cookie sheet aside for an hour or until chocolate has completely set.
Remove the parchment paper, and break the chocolate bark into big or small pieces as desired.
Serve it on this delicious Peppermint Candy Platter. Store it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator to treat yourself later!
