Ingredients

  • 8 oz mushrooms ,sliced or diced (I used baby Bella mushrooms)
  • ½ cup homemade bhuna masala
  • 1 teaspoon oil ,vegetable, or any cooking oil of your choice
  • 1 bay leaf ,optional
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon homemade garam masala
  • Fresh cilantro ,chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the bay leaf and let it sizzle for a few seconds.
  • Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Sprinkle salt to taste. Sauté the mushrooms for 2-3 minutes on high heat until it gets slightly charred.
  • Reduce the heat to medium, add the prepared bhuna masala to the skillet. Stir well to combine the mushroom with the masala.
  • Cover the skillet and let it cook for 3-5 minutes or until the mushroom is soft but not mushy. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  • Once the mushroom is cooked to your desired tenderness, sprinkle garam masala over the dish and stir.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro, and freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional).
  • Serve the Mushroom Bhuna Masala hot with roti, paratha, or rice and a side of yogurt for a complete meal.
