Equipment

  • 1 Mug ; microwave safe mug

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon chai spice blend cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, and cloves
  • 3 tablespoons brewed chai tea cooled
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract

For Topping

  • 1-2 teaspoons sweetened condensed milk
  • A dollop of whipped cream
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a microwave-safe mug, combine all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and chai spice blend. Mix well.
  • Add brewed chai tea, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir until you have a smooth batter with no dry flour pockets. Do not overmix.
  • Microwave on HIGH for 60-90 seconds, depending on your microwave. The cake should rise and look set on top. Avoid overcooking, as it can make the cake dry.
  • Let the mug cake rest for 1-2 minutes.
  • Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk and sprinkle with cinnamon. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Use freshly brewed, cooled chai tea for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the chai spice blend to taste.
  • Use a mug with enough room for the cake to rise.
  • Microwave cooking time may vary depending on the wattage of your microwave.
  • For a richer chai flavor, use strongly brewed chai tea.
